12 different posters by Polish designers will promote an investment which is strategic for the country's energy security in the calendar of the Polskie LNG company, responsible for the construction and operation of the LNG terminal in Świnoujście. The competition was organised in cooperation with the Association of Polish Graphic Designers. Nearly 170 poster proposals were submitted to the competition. The total pool of prizes was 10 000 PLN. According to the jury composed of the representatives of the Association of Polish Graphic Designers and Polskie LNG, the best one was designed by Iwona Gabryś, a student of the Faculty of Arts at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, who proposed a synthetic and minimalist poster which presented a ship for LNG transportation. The second place was taken by Atelier Szeski, a graphic design studio from Warsaw, for an expressive in form, black project depicting gas transmission, and the third place was taken by a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, Katarzyna Zapart, for an interesting depiction of the process of liquefaction of natural gas – from a volatile form into liquid. The calendar will feature the designs of nine more persons distinguished in the competition: Anna Chmielnik, Maciej Mraczek, Marta Stawarczyk, Jędrzej Chełmiński, Piotr Depta, Maciej Mytnik, Maciej Wolański, Dominik Kiepuszewski and Leszek Żebrowski. “The decision of the jury wasn't easy, nor was the competition challenge for the competitors. We are pleased that we managed to select posters with various styles. The calendar promoting the key Polish investment will go to a large group of people, it will surely be a support for and successful promotion of Polish design”, says Dawid Korzekwa, president of the Association of Polish Graphic Designers, member of the jury.
Polskie LNG S.A. is a special purpose entity established in 2007 for the construction of the LNG terminal in Świnoujście, i.e. a system for the reception and regasification of LNG – Liquefied Natural Gas, delivered by sea from virtually any direction in the world. The emerging LNG terminal in Świnoujście is the first infrastructural project of this kind not only in Poland, but also in Central and Eastern Europe, which aims at the diversification of the sources of gas supply to the country and the improvement of the energy security of the entire region. For this reason, the investment has been considered by the government to be strategic for the Polish economy.
