SECOND POLISH NATIONAL ARTISTIC COMPETITION OF ILLUSTRATIONS FOR JEREMI PRZYBORA'S SONG LYRICS

“Poetry and artistic image often remain in close mutual relations. Sometimes the image is created under the influence of poetic writing, other times the image is an inspiration for the creation of a poem. However, most often it happens that the poetic message uses a verbal record, which evokes a wide range of colourful images in the imagination of the audience. It also happens that painters or graphic designers use a poetic word to stimulate their imagination and give it a visual form. The output of Jeremi Przybora undoubtedly stimulates such artistic experiments. His lyrics and other works are simply saturated with visuality. Words are put together in such a way that they directly evoke a multitude of vivid associations. This year, the National Art Competition, whos theme was the poetic output of Jeremi Przybora, was announced by the Cultural Centre in Kutno for the second time. This is an extension of the current competition format to include artistic actions. It is addressed to a wide group of artists, those still in the beginning of the road leading to a crystallised creative attitude, and those who already earn their living as professional artists. Drawing, pastel, collage have become a field for the search of expression for this, stigmatised with nostalgia and lyricism, satirical poetry of the highest order (...).
